Dog walking

A tired dog is a happy dog.....
Dog walking is a growing industry. According to animal welfare organisations, most dogs should receive three walks or a minimum of two hours exercise per day. Ensuring that your dog receives this will mean that he is less likely to develop behavioural or medical problems or suffer from being overweight.
There are many Dog Walkers all over the UK, some are registered with the National Association of Registered Pet sitters (NARP) and others rely on word of mouth or local advertising.
Dog Walkers, will walk your dog whilst you are on holiday and can also provide a useful service if you are no longer able to walk your dog permanently or temporarily due to a change in your circumstances, e.g. having to return to work full time etc.
When choosing a walking service, ask questions about where the dogs are walked, how they are transported to the walk, how long your dog will actually be walked for, (as this may be different to how long he is out for as there may be travelling time involved). Ask how many other dogs are walked at the same time and how many walkers there are. There should be no more than three dogs walked by each walker to ensure that all the dogs are safely cared for; some Councils have banned walkers from taking more than eight dogs out together as there have been safety problems with pack behaviour in some areas of the country.
Ideally your Dog Walker will vary the area that is used for walking so as to ensure that the dogs get extra stimulation by going to new or different areas. It is recommended that your dog is fully vaccinated, insured, micro-chipped and wears a dog collar with identity tag. Or purchase a collar with your pet’s details permanently personalised on it.
