Feeling guilty about leaving your dog behind when going on holiday? - A Dog hotel might be the answer; the idea being that your dog will have a holiday too. He/she will be treated as a guest and stay in luxurious accommodation. As the public awareness in the UK of minimum requirements for dogs has broadened, there has been an increase in the more luxurious end of the kennels market and in Pet Hotels.

Some hotels have fully furnished rooms, swimming pools, solariums, massage and grooming services, televisions, piped music and several have webcams so that you can keep an eye on your dog from wherever you are in the world! Some hotel businesses will collect and return your dog from your home and many include food and bedding as part of the package.

The quality of accommodation and degree of care varies considerably and there is no way of truly assessing the type of accommodation without paying a visit. Visiting will give you the opportunity of meeting the owners or staff and finding out more about how the facilities are managed. Most well run establishments won't be too strict on what times you can visit and this can be a sign of a business that has nothing to hide - as opposed to places that insists you only visit by appointment.

A dog hotel will still be run on a similar basis to a boarding kennel facility as dogs still have the same basic needs. The level of staffing and type of care offered are by far the most important aspects as this is what will truly matter to your dog.
